A tranquil place

The tranquil town of Borgagne in the commune of Melendugno greets its visitors with a green, rural face. Here, in the heart of the Graecia Salentina, the landscape is defined by olive and almond groves.

… with a long history

Nevertheless, the town can look back on a long history. As of the end of the Middle Ages, Borgagne belonged to the property of feudal landowners who were subject to the Spanish monarchs of the Crown of Aragon. The stately houses on Via Laterano date from those times and Castello del Petraroli dates from the 16th century. The parish church with its altars made of "Lecce stone" is well worth seeing, too.
