The White Town
Ostuni is known throughout the world as the "White Town". Where this name comes from, becomes evident when approaching the town. From afar, you can see the whitewashed houses which fit perfectly into the gentle and colourful hilly landscape and which lend Ostuni its very special charm.
In the Old Town's labyrinth of alleys
From the snow-white of the Old Town, this labyrinth of alleyways and stairs, rises the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta with its late Gothic façade.

Informative finds from the Stone Age
We are given an interesting insight into the life of our ancestors at the Chiesa delle Monacelle, which houses informative finds from the Stone Age. About two kilometres east of Ostuni lies a sacred site dating back over 25 000 years where people from the Stone Age worshipped their great Earth Mother.
Spotlessly clean beaches
The beaches near the white town count among the most clean in whole Italy and, for years, they have therefore been awarded the "bandiera blu", the Blue Flag.

Nature reserve Torre Guaceto
South of Ostuni, near Torre Guaceto, over 1 000 ha of maritime and coastal landscape are under environmental protection – here, nature can display all its beauty without inhibition. The underwater world fascinates snorkelers, sea turtles breed on shore and the coastal lakes offer resting places to migratory birds. The WWF offers excursions above and under water – a very special experience of nature!
