Masseria Torre Rosa at Ceglie Messapica/Cisternino is a family-owned, completely restored country estate built at the beginning of the 17th century. The 'heart' of the property is the pool, which is framed by a lovely stone wall and by an ensemble of oaks, centuries-old olive trees and flowers.

At Masseria Torre Rosa you spend holidays in a place embedded in Apulia’s gorgeous landscape, apart from the hustling and bustling of the tourist centers, in Valle d'Itria with its trulli, the typical stone houses with cone-shaped roofs pointing skywards.

Rambling premises with pool and park

The 110,000 m² premises include a private park, where you can go picnicking or simply for a walk. Owner Gregorio grows grain and wine in the fields around his Masseria and turns them into delicious bread and pleasant-tasting wine. Cold-pressed olive oil is made from the olives growing on the premises. For breakfast, he offers home-made cakes and biscotti.

Gregorio’s pride and joy is the pool area. On site, he tells us that he does not use conventional chlorine as a disinfectant in the pool, but a special kind of saline solution, which you neither taste nor smell, but which has the same effect and is much milder. The pool area with loungers and sun shades is open from April to October (changes due to weather conditions possible).

And, just in case your suitcase is too packed up, the owner provides pool or beach towels for € 2 /week upon request.

The holiday apartments

From among the 8 holiday apartments on the premises, we have chosen for our Cilentano guests the apartments type B for 2-3 persons (with additional bed on request). Type B includes a double bedroom, an eat-in kitchen (incl. oven, gas stove, refrigerator) with SAT-TV and a bathroom (shower cabin/WC/bidet, hair dryer).  

In the outdoor area, garden furniture is provided for each apartment.  

The apartments type A for 2-4 persons are quite the same in furnishing, but they offer more space, inside and out, and have got 2 bedrooms (with 1-2 additional beds on request).

Furnishing and features of the Masseria also include: WIFI, heating, safe, washing machine (for shared use and a fee), bikes (for rent), grill.

Parking: Parking is available in the estate’s parking lot.

Board

The rental price includes a rich breakfast with hearty and sweet foods.
About twice a week, on request and for an extra charge, the owner offers to prepare shared evening meals of specialties typical for the region.

Surroundings

The valley of the trulli, still an insider’s tip for Southern Italy only a few years ago, has been turning into a popular destination for tourists from all over the world.

Significant sights, such as the trulli village of Alberobello (23 km) or the white hilltop towns Ostuni (14 km) and Cisternino (7 km), draw thousands of visitors every year, above all during high season. Should you prefer more 'calm', we recommend stopping there in spring and in autumn.

Active vacationers might love to discover the cycling and hiking trails in Valle d’Itria and start on tours right from the Masseria.

The sea with its crystal clear water and inviting sandy beaches are about 22 km off. Both at Pilone and at Costa Merlata you can easily park your car and spend a relaxing day on the Adriatic Sea.

Our tip: It is about 1 ½ hours by car to Matera, Capital of Culture 2019 and a worthwhile destination with its cave dwellings, which were inhabited far into the 1950s.
