The tranquil, small town of Borgagne in the comune of Melendugno welcomes its visitors with a green, rural face. Here, in the heart of the Graecia Salentina, the landscape is defined by olive and almond groves.
The small town nevertheless looks back upon a long history. As of the end of the Middle Ages, Borgagne was part of the property of feudal landowners, who were subject to the Spanish monarchs of the Crown of Aragon. The stately houses on Via Laterano and 16th century Castello Petraroli date back to those times.
At the parish church you get to see altars made of the remarkable "Lecce stone".
